Nuclear Safety Assessor Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Nuclear Safety Assessor to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in nuclear safety and experience in working on complex projects.

About the Role

The Nuclear Safety Assessor will be responsible for providing specialist human factors design and safety assessment support to our major programme safety case team.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment. They will also have experience of working on complex projects and managing multiple stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing specialist human factors design and safety assessment support to our major programme safety case team.
  • Working closely with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that human factors considerations are integrated into all aspects of our projects.
  • Developing and implementing human factors design and safety assessment methodologies and procedures.
  • Collaborating with our Head of Profession to develop and implement resource strategies, recruitment plans, and competence.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education).
  • Human Factors assessment and HAZAN production experience.
  • Experience of a range of nuclear hazard identification and analytical tools.
  • Experience of ergonomics/human factors design.
  • Ability to travel for several days at a time in the UK and occasional overseas travel.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, including presentation and report writing.
  • Experience of UK nuclear site licensing, safety assessment principles, regulatory guidance on safety assessment, and nuclear Site Licence Conditions.
  • Experience in two or more UK Nuclear Site Licensee Organisations.
  • Experience of Regulatory permissioning/flexible permissioning.
  • Experience of international nuclear safety assessment.
  • Project management and project controls skills.
Estimated Salary: £90,000 - £110,000 per annum
