About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Finance to join our team at MTrec Commercial. As a key member of our senior management team, you will be responsible for leading our finance function and providing strategic financial guidance to support the growth and development of our business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure debtors and creditors ledgers remain in balance at the end of each month
  • Review aged debt and implement effective credit control measures
  • Manage wages controls and balance to payrolls
  • Prepare and submit PAYE monthly to HMRC
  • Review and authorise weekly/monthly BACS submissions prior to payment
  • Update work in progress and prepaid income at each month end
  • Ensure cashbooks are posted to our accounting system
  • Authorise BACS files from creditors ledger for payment
  • Prepare monthly management accounts for the group, including balance sheets, profit and loss accounts, consolidated balance sheet, abbreviated profit and loss reports and summaries of aged debt and creditors
  • Report to the board of directors and submit to our bank as required within timescales
  • Review management accounts to date and analysis of balance sheet accounts to ensure no misposting within the period
  • Review 12 months management accounts and present in format as required by auditors. Make adjustments as required in readiness for fieldwork by auditors.
  • Deal with queries raised during audit, present information and explanation as required to work towards conclusion
  • Prepare consolidated balance sheet and profit and loss account to exclude intercompany transactions and present to auditors as final part of the audit
  • Prepare quarterly VAT returns for the group
  • Prepare quarterly Aggregate Levy Return
  • Prepare quarterly Land Fill Tax Return
  • Submit returns to Companies House
  • Credit check for new account enquiries
  • Complete monthly construction and other office of national statistics returns
  • Prepare financial reports as required by the board of directors
  • Complete directors' tax returns
About You

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Head of Finance who has a strong background in financial management and leadership. You will have a proven track record of managing a finance team and have experience of working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

You will be a strong communicator with an inclusive and engaging approach to working with various teams in a business. You will be looking for a new challenge where you can really make a positive difference and help drive the growth and development of our business.

You will have the ability to challenge processes and look for improvements, and have experience of working to tight deadlines.
