Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Executive Chef to join our team at Southampton University Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, producing, and presenting menu items for service users, ensuring a clean and safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Head Chef in planning menus, seeking input from the team.
Prepare daily menu items for patients, staff, and the general public/visitors.
Produce, present, and serve function menus as required.
Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of own work areas.
Organize chill and freezer storage, ensuring cleanliness in these areas.
Use equipment correctly and carefully in daily food production.
Ensure the department's hygiene standards are maintained in all food preparation, production, and holding areas.
Comply with food hygiene regulations and HACCP policy.
Adopt a responsibility for and awareness of food production and presentation at all times.
Monitor and record temperatures of chills, freezers, and food in production and holding as per departmental procedures.
Suggest and introduce new menu lines as appropriate.
Prepare, produce, and present therapeutic and special diets for patients where required.
Ensure correct and economical use of materials and the following of standardized recipes.
Receive delivery of goods when required.
Report faulty equipment where applicable.
Supervise service production.
Monitor stock, ensuring correct usage and monitoring of wastage.
Participate and organize theme days.
Undertake other ad hoc duties as prescribed by the manager and within the scope of skill and capability.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience required.
Salary:£11.44 per hour
