Senior Finance Officer

The London Borough of Sutton is seeking a highly skilled Senior Finance Officer to join its shared finance service with Kingston Council. This role will focus on supporting the council's revenue and capital budget setting processes, with a strong emphasis on delivering financial planning and business partnering services.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver financial planning and budgeting support to budget managers, including planning, financial management, and monitoring.
- Support the Strategic Capital Finance Business Partner in maintaining accurate and useful capital working papers.
- Prepare journals, virements, and reserve movements.
- Assist the Strategic Corporate Finance Business Partner in completing statutory returns and ad hoc requests for information.
The Financial Planning and Business Partnering team is a key part of the shared finance service, supporting the London Borough of Sutton and Kingston Council. The team has 17 positions that combine to deliver revenue and capital financial planning and business partnering services.
The shared finance service aims to add value and inspire success by:

The successful candidate will have:
- Part or fully qualified in a relevant professional qualification (e.g. CIPFA, CIMA, AAT) or demonstrable equivalent experience.
- Capability to use digital tools and software to deliver effective finance support.
- Experience of working in a customer-focused environment and achieving successful outcomes.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to provide detailed and accurate information.
- Strong communication skills, verbally and in writing, with the ability to discuss, analyse, and present finance concepts and processes.
