Technical Director of Mechanical Engineering

FPG is seeking a seasoned Technical Director of Mechanical Engineering to lead critical projects in the heart of London, working on cutting-edge data centre environments.

As the Technical Director, you will oversee the development of mechanical engineering solutions in mission-critical environments, ensuring compliance with codes and standards, and providing expert guidance to both internal teams and clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development of mechanical design strategies, ensuring alignment with new technologies to support customer needs and business goals.
  • Stay informed on the latest advancements in mechanical engineering and data centre technology, recommending innovations to improve infrastructure reliability and efficiency.
  • Provide expert technical review and direction for global site selection programs, including sub-station design and site power distribution in partnership with electrical utility providers.
  • Advise clients on mechanical systems and concepts, ensuring compliance with safety codes and industry standards.
  • Lead the development and implementation of HVAC, LEV, and LTHW systems, as well as non-critical cooling and heating solutions.
  • Manage public health systems (water, sewage, drainage), fuel systems, leak detection, trace heating, and fire protection systems.
  • Maintain vendor relationships and drive continuous professional development within the team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong focus on data centre infrastructure.
  • Expertise in mechanical system design for mission-critical environments.
