About the Role
Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled Primary Mental Health Worker to join our team. As a Primary Mental Health Worker, you will be working in the Early Help Team, completing CAMHS Assessments for children and young people accepted through the Single Point of Access.
You will have access to a multi-disciplinary team for case discussions, reflective practice, and outcome meetings to support your formulations and clinical decision-making. Additionally, you will be co-facilitating our Stepped Care groupwork programme to young people, their support networks, and the community.
Main Responsibilities
Our Primary Mental Health Worker will provide a community-based primary mental health service for children and young people as part of the primary tier of CAMHS. This will involve working with colleagues to offer consultation and advice to primary care workers on all aspects of mental health and wellbeing of children and their families.
The successful candidate will also direct children and their families to the most appropriate service to meet their emotional needs, offer assessments individually and jointly with primary care colleagues, and provide a variety of evidence-based therapeutic interventions at tier 1 and 2 to children, young people, and their families.
About Us
Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS Foundation Trusts in the UK, specialising in mental health and learning disabilities, as well as offering physical health community-based services. We are committed to providing the best possible healthcare, reaching a range of diverse communities, while placing patients and staff at the forefront of all our endeavours.
We are currently working closely with other NHS Trusts to integrate all our collective community, mental health, and learning disability services. Our new organisation, to be known as Hampshire and Isle of Wight NHS Foundation Trust, is set to launch in July 2024.
The transformation will happen in staggered stages; Hampshire CAMHS, part of Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust joined Southern Health in February 2024, with Isle of Wight NHS Trust mental health and community services transitioning in early May 2024. The final combination of Southern Health and Solent Trusts is anticipated to occur in July 2024, when the new organisation will be formed.
