Volunteer Engagement Coordinator

University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced professional to develop, embed and manage a new End of Life volunteering service across the trust. As a key member of the Voluntary Services team, you will work in partnership with End of Life Care Leads to create a compassionate volunteer programme that improves the experience of patients and their loved ones.
Main Responsibilities- To establish and manage a dedicated End of Life Care Volunteer programme, ensuring its integration into hospital operations and long-term sustainability.
- Recruit, train, supervise and manage a team of End-of-Life Care Volunteers, fostering a culture of excellence and empathy.
- To work closely with clinical teams and the specialist palliative care team to identify patients who would benefit from support, providing tailored assistance to meet their unique needs.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent customer service skills, experience working with volunteers, and a strong understanding of Equality & Diversity legislation. They should also be proficient in Microsoft Office and related packages, including spreadsheets, databases, and electronic information management. A willingness to travel off-site to engage with community and voluntary groups is essential.
We offer a competitive salary range of £35,000 - £45,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to a stimulating work environment, we provide opportunities for career growth, professional development, and a comprehensive benefits package.
Requirements- GCSE (or equivalent) in maths and English or equivalent experience.
- NVQ level 3 Customer Care or equivalent qualification or experience.
- Excellent customer service experience, including handling queries, complaints, and sensitive information.
- Knowledge of Equality & Diversity legislation in relation to recruitment.
- Previous experience of teaching/training, either in a group setting or one-to-one.
- Knowledge of end of life or palliative care, acquired through study or personal or professional experience.
- Proven ability to use Microsoft Office and related packages.
- Ability to work alone with minimal supervision and manage own workload effectively.
- Awareness of policy issues around end-of-life care.
