An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced gynaecology oncology nurse to join our Clinical Nurse Specialist team at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.

The post holder will have a distinct level of responsibility to patients with gynaecology tumours in providing a comprehensive specialist nursing service.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and experienced, who enjoys patient contact and working in a multi-disciplinary environment to support the delivery of a quality service.

Main duties of the job

  • To assist in the provision of professional and clinical leadership and expertise in the care of the patient with Gynaecological cancers.
  • To lead and contribute to the formulation of policies.
  • To liaise effectively with all members of the multi-disciplinary health care team.
  • To provide informal and formal teaching.

Job responsibilities

  • To sustain a high quality specialist service for the patient, from diagnosis through all stages of the disease.
  • To formulate and/or revise relevant policies and to regularly review this following change/implementation.
  • To develop assessment tools that will ensure an appropriate level of nursing intervention.

Person Specification

Education/Qualifications

  • Registration
  • Evidence of on-going professional development
  • Recognised teaching qualification
  • Qualification in oncology or speciality Diploma or Degree level study
  • Evidence of Masters level learning or prepared to work towards

Experience

  • In-depth Gynae-oncology specialist experience
  • Sufficient post registration nursing experience in oncology or speciality

Desirable

  • Experience in chemotherapy administration
  • Experience in Clinical Management
  • Evidence of relevant teaching experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of clinical trials management
