Job Title: Senior Design Manager

Location: Reading

Business: Construction South

Role Purpose:

To oversee the development and coordination of project designs, ensuring a proactive and robust design service that meets company and customer expectations. This involves providing creative architectural solutions and design advice to support business growth and customer satisfaction.

The role will be site-based on a secure facility/public sector project, requiring strong collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage the design resource and workload, ensuring effective planning and coordination.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless design delivery.
  • Develop and implement design strategies to improve quality and innovation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and project management teams.
  • Work collaboratively with project teams, clients, and consultants to ensure design excellence.
  • Manage design relationships with clients, design consultants, and statutory bodies.
  • Develop and maintain design programs and information flows to ensure project success.
  • Review and improve design processes and outputs to ensure compliance and quality.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proficiency in Autocad for spaceplanning and detailing.
  • Previous retail/office project design experience and client liaison skills.
  • Self-motivated and dynamic thinking.
  • Excellent working knowledge of 2D and 3D design, with experience in client design presentations.
  • Demonstrated competency as a design lead.
