Senior Design Manager

Regional Buildings is seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Manager to lead our design services team. As a key member of our preconstruction and construction stages, you will be responsible for delivering design services that meet customer requirements and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage and deliver design deliverables on major projects to ensure quality, cost, and programme alignment.
- Support the Project Delivery team in managing quality, contract management, and Health & Safety.
- Develop and implement design proposals that meet customer requirements, including budget and time constraints.
- Manage CDM compliance and discharge Principal Designer duties on the project.
- Manage Subcontractor design packages and technical approvals.
- Manage Design Change Control.
- Manage design resources, including design coordinators and document controllers.
- Responsible for design progress reporting.
- Manage and ensure effective briefing of the Design Team, including management of any 3rd parties or novated design teams.
- Provide advice on the buildability of design proposals to the design and construction teams.
- Liaise with statutory bodies and authorities as required.
- Support the Safety by Design & Engineering forum or other similar forums.
- Lead the development and management of the design deliverables programme.
- Ensure a clear schedule of design deliverables.
- Lead gate reviews activities to ensure timely and appropriate sign off at each project gate.
- Lead the co-ordination and production of design data, tender deliverables, reports, and documentation.
- Lead the design process to meet employer requirements.
- Provide BIM management during the bid stage.
- Consider the application of Lean Construction techniques.
- Ensure learning and best practice is captured from the tender and project.
- Proactively contribute to the Risk and Value Management process.
- Ensure compliance with BB design management processes.
This role requires a proven track record in delivering design services within the preconstruction and construction stages of projects and successfully implementing design strategies. Leadership skills in a matrix organisation are essential to deliver design services in a timely manner with a customer and business sector specific focus.
Good working knowledge of BIM is required, and working knowledge of NEC contract is desirable. Excellent IT skills relevant to the Business Stream are desirable, and Microsoft Office is essential. Detailed knowledge of codes of practice and other regulatory material applicable to the Business Stream is required.
