Exciting Opportunity for a Principal Designer in Central London

Bennett and Game Recruitment, a renowned technical recruitment agency based in Chichester, West Sussex, is seeking a highly skilled Principal Designer to join their team on a permanent basis. This role will be based in one of our offices in Central London, Essex, Cambridge, Norwich, Oxford, or Nottingham.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Principal Designer with a proven track record in managing building regulations compliance. As a key member of our team, you will coordinate internal technical experts to deliver Organisational Competence for the BR PD Role. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collating and commenting on Design Risk compliance documents
  • Producing, reviewing, and updating BSA compliance Risk Registers / Project Compliance Coordination Records
  • Coodinating reviews of full design packages by internal specialists in architecture/building surveying/services engineering/structures and highlighting Building Regulations compliance
  • Gathering input and coordinating with internal technical specialists
  • Assisting in preparing project Building Regulations conformance statements and other BR PD duties
  • Assessing necessary involvement during the Construction Phase by setting out visits, requirements, and information to be provided by the Principal Contractor requirements, and any opening up or inspection regime
  • Conducting periodic inspections of the works as defined in scope for each particular project
  • Coordinating and gathering any variations to the design which may impact Building Regulation compliance
  • Leading all BR PD jobs in terms of coordinating internal resource, undertaking work within the BRPD/BS scope, managing fees, and reporting to the Director of Health and Safety
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A proven experience within a CDM / Health & Safety advisor role or a Building Control, Building Surveying, or Clerk Of Works background
  • The ability to commute to one of our offices in Central London, Essex, Cambridge, Norwich, Oxford, or Nottingham
  • A NEBOSH certificate or other relevant qualification
  • Membership of or working towards AaPs, IMaPS, and IOSH or IIRSM
