Job Summary

We are excited to invite applications for a Band 5 nursing position in General Surgery at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a supportive and progressive environment, providing high-quality patient care in a dynamic and challenging setting.

Main Responsibilities

As a Staff Nurse in General Surgery, you will be responsible for delivering expert clinical practice, reviewing patients on admission, and ensuring timely access to investigations, referrals, and assessments. You will also support staff in managing challenging patients, families, or situations, and deal sensitively with patients and relatives who may be exhibiting high levels of anxiety or aggression.

Person Specification

We are looking for a Registered General Adult Nurse with current NMC registration or soon-to-qualify. You will have evidence of having undertaken your own development to improve understanding of equalities issues and have championed diversity in previous roles. You will also be able to sympathetically convey unwelcome news to patients and relatives regarding diagnosis and potential recovery.
