We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as an International Freight Forwarding Apprentice at DHL Global Forwarding. As an Apprentice, you will play a key role in developing your skills and knowledge in the field of international freight forwarding.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external customers to ensure excellent customer service.
- Respond promptly and professionally to customer enquiries, addressing any concerns or issues in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with Customs procedures and documentation, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
- Work closely with carriers and handling agents to resolve exceptions and discrepancies, ensuring smooth logistics operations.
- Collaborate with DGF departments on ocean freight planning and coordination, ensuring seamless execution of logistics operations.
- Liaise with DGF Transport & Warehouse teams on ocean freight planning and coordination, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
- Liaise with overseas offices on ocean freight planning and coordination, ensuring global consistency and compliance.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of milestones and progress through the Company's Freight Forwarding system.
- Utilize Company systems to create, manage, and maintain the movement of freight, ensuring efficient and effective logistics operations.
- Update Company's customer complaints with all required inputs, ensuring prompt and effective resolution.
- Ensure all interactions are compliant with DPDHL Code of Conduct and other compliance requirements, such as anti-corruption.
- Contribute to the 'First Choice' continuous improvement program, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes.
- Participate in monthly team briefing sessions, staying informed and engaged with the team.
- Complete all statutory and mandatory training as and when required, ensuring ongoing professional development.
- Customer service focus, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good administrative and organizational skills, with attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Results-driven, with a high level of IT skills and ability to use own initiative.
- Excellent written and spoken English language skills.
- High level of education, with a minimum of 5 x Standard grades 1-3 or National 4/5 including English and Maths.
We offer a competitive salary with incremental increases, as well as the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in the field of international freight forwarding. The Apprenticeship will be for a c24 month Fixed Term Contract (FTC), with the aim that Apprentices move into a permanent position within the business – subject to a suitable vacancy being available and in line with the selection process for the role.
