About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Forensic Healthcare Specialist to join our team at Mountain Healthcare. As a Forensic Custody Healthcare Professional, you will work closely with the police to provide high-quality care to detainees and their needs, which can vary from drug/alcohol dependency to acute medical episodes.

Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience in acute medical healthcare and be a qualified Registered Nurse or Paramedic. Previous experience in A&E, walk-in centres, substance misuse, community nursing, police custody, prison, or other relevant disciplines would be an advantage.

You will work in a dynamic and lively environment, with no two days the same. The police can detain individuals for up to 24 hours, and you will be responsible for providing a high level of care to detainees and their needs.

As a Forensic Practitioner, you will work closely with the police and receive training and support to become an accredited Forensic Practitioner. Experience within forensics is not necessary, as you will receive comprehensive training and support to excel in this role.

Custody is a dynamic and lively environment, with no two days the same. You will work closely with the police and receive training and support to become an accredited Forensic Practitioner.

Hours of Work

We offer a 4-on-4-off rota pattern, which will give you the ability to plan your personal life months in advance. The shift pattern comprises of two day shifts, two night shifts, then 4 days off. This is a Bank Vacancy Only.

Duties Include
  • Forensic sampling (including road traffic offence bloods).
  • Signposting and conducting referrals; offering support for vulnerabilities and supporting patients to break patterns of re-offending.
  • Delivering substance misuse therapies.
  • Assessment & care of detainees and staff in custody suites.
  • Acute disease management.
  • Promoting good personal healthcare.
  • Working with Liaison and Diversion to identify any mental health needs.
Essential Skills
  • Qualified Registered Nurse or Paramedic.
  • A minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience.
  • Acute medical healthcare experience.

Previous experience in any of the following would be ideal to assist you in the role: A&E, walk-in centre, substance misuse, community nursing, police custody, prison, as a Paramedic Practitioner, Registered Nurse or other relevant discipline.
