Job Title: Principal Designer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Designer to join our team at Carriera Limited. As a Principal Designer, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with the Building Safety Act and delivering high-quality design services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Attend design team meetings and workshops to ensure effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders.
  2. Prepare and produce BSA progress reports at the end of each RIBA Stage/Gateway submission.
  3. Liaise with other duty holders to ensure design work compliance and coordination.
  4. Ensure reasonable steps are taken to design work which is planned, managed, and monitored to ensure compliance with all relevant requirements.
  5. Liaise with clients on their duties under the BSA.
  6. Coordinate the route to compliance with the consultant team and establish a consensus for compliance.
  7. Support the project team with notifying the regulator of any duty holder appointments.
  8. Participate in design development and ensure a mandatory reporting plan is in place throughout the design phase.
  9. Support the team through change management throughout the design phase and monitor risks to design work compliance.
  10. Ensure the Fire and Emergency File is in place during the design phase and handed over to the PC during the construction phase.
  11. Monitor design development and identify risks to compliance.
  12. Monitor the competency of the design team.
Requirements:
  1. A minimum of 4 years of experience in a related field.
  2. Architect, Architectural Technologist, or Construction Management background.
  3. Chartership or working towards accreditation within the industry.
  4. A level of experience in High Risk Buildings.
  5. Awareness and understanding of PD duties and responsibilities.
  6. A keen eye for technical challenges across all parts of the construction industry.
  7. Understanding of modern methods of construction.
  8. Comfortable with Building regs, BSA legislation, BS documents, and statutory processes.
  9. Passionate about technical delivery and enjoys a process-driven role.
  10. Enjoys working across multiple jobs at various stages.
  11. Has a presence and confidence to grow and carry the role.
