Mental Health Community Specialist

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a highly respected community mental health team within the East London NHS Foundation Trust. The successful applicant will join a well-established multidisciplinary team of consultants, trainees, and specialty doctors working across primary and secondary community services for working-age adults with severe mental illness.
The team is based at a community clinic that houses all our Neighbourhood Teams as well as the Early Intervention and an Early Detection of Psychosis Service. This location offers excellent connectivity with good bus and overground links, making it easily accessible from various parts of the borough.
As a Consultant Adult Psychiatrist with Community responsibilities, you will be expected to provide a holistic and assertive service for working-age adults with severe mental illness. Your expertise in risk assessment and evidence-based interventions for treating psychosis, mood disorders, and co-morbidities will be invaluable in delivering high-quality patient care.
We are seeking an experienced clinician with a strong background in adult psychiatry services in the community. You should have excellent working knowledge and experience of the application of the Mental Health Act, as well as a deep understanding of the social aspects relevant to psychiatry. Your ability to train and supervise junior medical staff and non-medical mental health professionals will be essential in supporting the development of the team.
A medical education qualification and a commitment to continuing professional development are also essential. Additionally, you should be willing to teach medical students and lecture on undergraduate and MRCPsych courses, as well as supervise research, audit, or quality improvement projects.
