Job Title: Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team at GSL Education. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with physical and neurological impairments in a special school setting.

Job Purpose:

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting students' learning in line with the national curriculum, codes of practice, and school policies and procedures. This includes supporting literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills development, attending to personal care needs, and promoting positive student behavior.

Duties:
  • Support students with physical and neurological disabilities, including those with mobility challenges or learning difficulties.
  • Assist with personal care needs, following each student's Care Plan.
  • Promote positive student behavior and keep students on task.
  • Participate in planning and evaluation of learning activities.
  • Monitor and record student responses and achievements.
  • Assist in the implementation of educational and care programs.
  • Select and maintain appropriate resources and specialist equipment.
  • Liaise with staff and other professionals, providing necessary student information.
  • Supervise students during breaks and educational visits, facilitating games and activities.
  • Physically assist students during activities, such as PE.
Requirements:

The successful applicant will have strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
