Job Summary:

The BBC offers a unique opportunity for Journalism Trainees to develop their skills and talent in a dynamic news environment. As a trainee, you will work alongside experienced journalists to create and deliver high-quality content for TV, online, digital, and audio platforms.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the production of news stories, working closely with reporters and producers to research and write engaging articles.
  • Contribute to the development of broadcast packages, including scripting, filming, and editing.
  • Participate in all aspects of the newsroom, including sourcing guests, writing briefs, and assisting with live broadcasts.

Training and Development:
  • Receive on-the-job training while pursuing the NCTJ Diploma in Journalism and a Level 5 apprenticeship qualification.
  • Follow the Journalist Apprenticeship standard (curriculum) and work towards an industry-recognized qualification.
  • Develop strong writing and communication skills, understanding Ofcom regulations and essential media law.
  • Learn how to create engaging content across various digital platforms.

Eligibility:
  • Be aged 18 or over when the apprenticeship starts.
  • Be eligible to work in the UK full-time for the duration of the apprenticeship contract.

Requirements:
  • Not have completed or be studying for the NCTJ diploma or a journalism qualification at the same level or higher.
  • Have achieved Maths and English GCSE at Grade 4/C or above, or National 5 (Scotland) at C or Functional Skills Level 2.
