Role – Senior Design Engineer

CJR Propulsion is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Design Engineer to join our team in developing cutting-edge sterngear solutions for a diverse range of vessels.

In this role, you will be part of a collaborative team utilizing 2D and 3D software to design sterngear, create production drawings, and provide technical support to the Sales and Production Teams. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and driven design engineer with a passion for the marine industry and at least three years' experience.

The successful candidate will be exposed to the following key responsibilities:

  1. Design and development of shaftline geometry, including shafts, rudders, p-brackets, and propellers.
  2. Creation of production drawings for the manufacture of parts.
  3. Program 3D printers for creation of tooling.
  4. Supporting the production team with technical questions.
  5. Utilization of Siemens NX software.
  6. FEM and Lateral Vibration Analysis.
  7. Creation of technical reports of design and test results.
  8. Development of design standards to guide future project work.
  9. Definition of assembly BOM's and liaison with the Purchasing team to ensure correct raw materials are ordered in a timely manner.
  10. Technical support to the sales team during the bid stage, customer visits, and aftersales period.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree (BEng, BSc) in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
  2. Strong oral and written communication skills.

Employment Package:

  • Job type – Permanent.
  • Hours – 38 hours per week.
  • Salary – Competitive. Reviewed annually.
  • Benefits – Company pension, 25 Days Annual Leave.
  • Hours – 9am – 5pm, Monday to Thursday; 3pm finish on Fridays.
  • Pay: £40,000.00 per year.
  • Additional pay: Bonus scheme, Yearly bonus.
  • Benefits: On-site parking.
  • Schedule: 8 hour shift.
  • Ability to commute/relocate: Reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work.
