Premier Recruitment Group is proud to partner with a leading company in Rainham, East London, Essex, to recruit a highly skilled Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer. This is a full-time, permanent position that offers a challenging and varied role with opportunities for career progression.

We are seeking a talented and experienced Shift Engineer to join our client's team. As a key member of the engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of production processes, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment, and contributing to the company's success.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical and mechanical maintenance, with experience in working at height and in confined spaces. You will be proficient in using computerized maintenance management systems and have excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

The role involves:

  • Reporting to the Engineering Team Leader
  • Ensuring compliance with GMP, Safety, Quality, Operational, and Engineering procedures
  • Supporting production prioritizing Safety, Quality, and Production Volume
  • Complying with legislative and statutory requirements

Key responsibilities include:

  • Documenting all work through the CMMS, shift handovers, and PM worksheets
  • Awareness of site performance and KPIs, and supporting others to achieve targets for safety, quality, and production volume
  • Identifying and controlling spare stock holding and procurement, linking into the PM system and CMMS
  • Identifying and planning maintenance and corrective actions in the area from the CMMS
  • Carrying out continuous improvement tasks identified within the area
  • Providing technical expertise within the area to other technicians and operators
  • Assisting and delivering basic training for operators and technicians on equipment function and operation
  • Supervising and taking responsibility for contractors on site
  • Understanding the Service Building and Site Maintenance, completing basic tasks in these areas
  • Controlling work through the Permit to Work system
  • Proactively driving continuous improvements within own area, liaising with other departments
  • Offering improvement ideas for production equipment and facilities
  • Electrical and mechanical installation works

Qualifications and experience required:

  • Prefer Advanced Modern Apprenticeship trained
  • Electrically/Mechanically qualified within the following range: degree, HND/HNC, OND/ONC, BTEC 4 or 3 NVQ level 3 or above
  • 18th edition wiring regulation, City & Guilds 236/2360 parts 1, 2, and C (electrical installation or similar)
  • Completed authorized or competent persons training
  • Technically competent to safely operate, make safe, and test systems or installations
  • IT literate
  • Experienced shift engineer with a proven track record
  • Flexible to work days and nights
  • Multi-skilled (or electrical 18th edition)
  • Workshop machines and power tools experience
  • IOSH managing safely
  • Experience of working in confined spaces and working at height
  • CI trained in a manufacturing environment
  • Lone worker experience (preferred)
  • Knowledge of BRC and HACCP food standards
