About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our team at Biffa's plant in Cannock. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for safely managing the AD Plant and day-to-day site operations, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement short, medium, and long-term plans for health and safety and environmental compliance requirements and waste operations.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and company procedures, including the Health and Safety at Work Act.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the AD Plant, ensuring process service requirements are achieved safely and robustly.
  • Provide leadership and management support to the Plant Manager and Operational Team.
  • Ensure the effective allocation of resources to complete tasks and operations safely, on time, and on budget.
  • Deliver programs of Continuous Improvement across the site.
  • Meet KPI targets against contract and business objectives.
  • Develop a working culture that enhances employee engagement.
  • Identify areas to remove cost and improve profit.
  • Ensure audit compliance and ISO accreditations are achieved.
  • Promote a culture of safety, including accident, near miss, and incident reporting.
  • Communicate, coordinate, and control contractors on site.

Requirements

  • Significant relevant experience in waste or environmental capacity.
  • Ability to work towards achieving clearly defined KPIs (environmental, financial, and H&S).
  • Able to travel without restriction and work some unsociable hours.
  • Ability to respond to out-of-hours call-outs or emergencies.
  • Ability to understand computer-based control systems.

Desirable

  • IOSH or other safety qualifications.
  • Management training or qualifications.
  • Experience with computerised control systems (SCADA) operations.
  • Development and implementation of data capture and recording systems.
  • Management of waste operations.
