Support Worker for Young Adults with Additional Needs
2 weeks ago
We are collaborating with a specialist college that supports young people aged 16 and over to recruit a Learning Support Assistant. This college provides a safe and supportive environment for learners with additional needs. The learners here have been diagnosed with various forms of Special Educational Needs (SEN) including Autism, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.
This college is part of a larger trust that has a renowned approach to working with individuals with additional needs. The trust has multiple schools that work together to ensure staff and pupils make progress and develop their skills. The specialist curriculum in this college is designed to prepare learners for life after college and employment by focusing on independent living skills such as budgeting, finance, cooking, and other essential adult life skills.
The successful Learning Support Assistant will be someone who has experience working with people with additional needs, such as those from schools, care backgrounds, or other sectors that support individuals with needs. The role involves delivering tasks in collaboration with a teacher, providing nurturing and caring support to vulnerable individuals, and creating a sense of calm and safety. The working hours are traditional school hours, approximately 08:30-16:00.
The Learning Support Assistant will work proactively to identify individuals who need support and contribute to a positive learning environment. The college is located in the Didsbury area of Manchester, close to the Withington Hospital. All applicants will be subject to standard vetting checks, including two recent references and a DBS check on the Update Service.
