Job Summary

As the Head of Manufacturing, you will oversee the machine shop for low volume specialist automotive and aerospace components. Key skills required for this role include CNC, machine shop, precision engineering, and strong people management skills to communicate and motivate team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of over 140 people, including machine technicians, quality inspection, manufacturing engineers, programmers, and production control.
  • Lead a strong technical team, executing a highly utilised and skilled workforce to improve performance in all areas of the business.
  • Plan for the future, introducing new machine tools and business processes/systems.
  • Ensure quality, on-time delivery, and cost of a high precision machine shop making all components for niche volume transmissions and similar items for the motorsport, automotive, defence, and aerospace industries.
Requirements
  • Demonstrable track record of leading large, skilled manufacturing teams to improve the overall performance of the business.
  • Knowledge of standard machining processes, including milling and turning on multi-axis, batch machining, gear grinding, grinding, shaping, and hobbing.
  • Strong people management skills to communicate and motivate team members.
  • Experience in planning and organising, with the ability to implement new processes and tools.
  • Strong understanding of business KPIs and improving performance in all areas.
  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement tools.
  • Champion of specific projects/customers.
  • Working knowledge and experience of quality systems for either automotive or aerospace.
