Job Description

Job Title: Ecologist

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Ecologist to join our team at Wardell Armstrong. As an Ecologist, you will be responsible for leading and undertaking ecological field surveys, analyzing and interpreting survey results, and producing reports and documents related to ecological impact assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ecological Field Surveys: Lead and undertake ecological field surveys to assess the impact of development projects on the environment.
  • Survey Analysis and Reporting: Analyze and interpret survey results, and produce reports and documents related to ecological impact assessments.
  • Mitigation Strategies: Devise and implement mitigation strategies to minimize the impact of development projects on the environment.
  • Project Management: Take responsibility for managing projects, including resource allocation, managing subcontractors, managing risk, quality assurance, and client feedback.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical input and support to internal offices and clients.
  • Business Development: Assist in the development of new business areas and prepare fee proposals.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Qualified to degree level or equivalent in ecology or a related discipline.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Hold or be working towards protected species survey licenses and have experience of protected species mitigation licensing.
  • Professional Memberships: Be an Associate or Full member of CIEEM or other relevant institute.
  • Skills and Experience: Have a full understanding of habitat survey and a broad knowledge of protected species survey, competent GIS skills, and experience of managing ecology projects to completion.
