About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Rehabilitation Engineer to join our Kent Wheelchair Service team at Rosscare, a leading provider of healthcare services. As a key member of our clinical team, you will play a vital role in assessing the mobility needs of adults and children with complex needs, and prescribing manual and powered wheelchairs with associated posture management and pressure management accessories.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of service users' mobility needs, using your clinical and technical expertise to prescribe the most suitable mobility equipment.
  • Supervise junior staff and provide clinical and technical guidance to other colleagues in the service.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical and operational colleagues to deliver high-quality service performance, with a focus on personalized approaches and measurable outcomes.
  • Lead the review and evaluation of new and existing equipment, ensuring compliance with medical devices regulations.
  • Liaise with service user groups, stakeholders, and internal teams to facilitate joint working and identify opportunities for improving service user outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development of internal training resources and provide support for external training programs, including apprenticeships and student placements.
  • Undertake and document risk assessments and corresponding risk management, relating to equipment provision, safeguarding, moving and handling, infection control, and other relevant areas.
Requirements
  • Registered as a Clinical Technologist or with the HCPC as a Clinical Scientist.
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools, including hand power tools, and competent to operate appropriate workshop equipment.
  • Experience of working with patients with long-term or deteriorating medical conditions.
  • Confident in the use of digital systems and software for record-keeping and analysis of service performance.
  • Full current UK driving license for a manual transmission vehicle and willingness to drive Rosscare vehicles (vans) as necessary.
  • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
