Maintenance Technician

Acorn by Synergie is seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their client, a global manufacturer based in Widnes, Cheshire.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the factory by resolving breakdowns and delivering maintenance. The role also includes driving improvement across the site in terms of new machinery, quality, and performance.
Key Responsibilities:- Interpret engineering specifications, design drawings, operations manuals, and manufacturer's instructions to ensure accurate maintenance and repairs.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns onsite to minimize plant equipment and machinery downtime.
- Perform repairs to plant and equipment during production, either alone or as part of a team, to ensure efficient and effective maintenance.
- Identify incorrect equipment operation and locate sources of error by observing equipment in operation and using test and measurement instruments.
- Make running adjustments to parts of devices and control instruments to ensure correct function.
- Deliver on plant uptime and maintenance KPIs through planned, preventative, and predictive maintenance.
- Liaise effectively with external contractors to ensure seamless maintenance operations.
The successful candidate must be a time-served maintenance technician with previous, related industrial maintenance experience. A HNC or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is required.
Desirable Skills and Experience:- Machine shop skills, including lathes, drilling, grinders, and milling machines.
- Fabrication shop skills, including sheet metalwork bending and forming, welding, hand felting/grinding, and painting.
- Mechanical installation and fitting, including machines fixing in location, levelling, and alignment, machine sub-assembly, and mechanical modification.
- Electrical installations and wiring, including practical familiarity with European and international standards and installation practice.
- Practical knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical/electronic motion control systems, including troubleshooting and repairing motors and drives.
- Practical experience with industrial robotics, including FANUC SCARA robots and multi-axis palletizing robots.
Shift pattern is 4 on 4 off (x2 12 hour days and x2 12 hour nights). A competitive salary and excellent benefits package are on offer, including a shift allowance and bonus scheme.
