Career Development Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Career Advisor to join our team at Action for Boston Community Development. As a Career Advisor, you will play a vital role in connecting qualified job seekers with employers, providing the tools and resources needed to start a career, increase skills, or find a new job.
Key Responsibilities- Develop a needs analysis and employment plan, including goal setting, to support customers in achieving their career objectives.
- Gather information through interviewing and observing individuals to understand their career aspirations and challenges.
- Provide feedback and an objective perspective to customers as they evaluate their options or make career transitions.
- Support customers through transitions, facilitating decision-making and goal setting, including referrals to relevant programs and services.
- Maintain knowledge of state-of-the-art career assessments and administer and interpret them as appropriate.
- Research labor market issues and current workplace trends to provide valuable insights to customers.
- Present a range of job search and career transition workshops to equip customers with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the job market.
- Inform customers of matters relevant to Career Center services, follow up on previous services, determine the success of prior services, update information, and offer additional services as needed.
- Maintain contact with a large caseload of customers through regular communication and personal appointments.
- Minimum of High School Degree or GED required, with a minimum of three years of customer service or relevant experience.
- An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in human services, public administration, business management, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- At least 2 years of experience working in a career center, providing services to businesses, or other related experience is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge and experience with WIOA, TRADE, RESEA, and other Career Center Programs regulations, programs, guidelines, and administrative requirements is preferred.
- Strong public speaking/presentation skills and the ability to work sensitively with people from diverse backgrounds.
