Data Governance Director

Jumar Group is seeking a highly skilled Data Governance Director to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality, trustworthiness, and safety of our data.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Design and Implement Data Governance Solutions: Develop and implement practical data governance solutions to support our organizational needs, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and standards.
  2. Improve Data Quality and Trustworthiness: Identify opportunities to enhance the quality and trustworthiness of our data, making recommendations to improve data management competencies.
  3. Establish Data Management Competencies: Implement and establish wider data management competencies, ensuring that users of data understand their responsibilities and the departmental policy.
  4. Optimize Data Safety and Value: Apply data governance to optimize the safety and value of our data throughout the data life cycle, minimizing data risks and increasing data literacy.
Essential Criteria:
  1. Data Protection Knowledge: Sound knowledge and understanding of Data Protection, particularly of the data sharing components of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, including the application of Lawful Basis and Legal Gateways.
  2. Data Sharing Agreements: Experience in drafting, reviewing, or assurance of Data Sharing Agreements / Memoranda of Understandings.
  3. Compliance and Advice: Effectively advising on various projects, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and standards across the business.
  4. Policies and Procedures: Working with Business Areas to implement and continually improve policies, procedures, and standards, as well as associated products.
  5. Data Literacy and Training: Ensuring that users of data understand their responsibilities, developing and conducting training sessions with colleagues.
  6. Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to confidently deliver robust advice, build and support a data stewardship network, and communicate with stakeholders in a clear, honest, and enthusiastic way.
  7. Government Experience: Previous experience of working for a government department.
  8. Legal Knowledge: Confidence with relevant legal subject matter, e.g., reviewing and applying a legislative framework to a process.
  9. Social Security Knowledge: Knowledge of/experience with the delivery of social security in England and Wales.
