About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Sales Chemist to join our team at Biffa Waste Services. As a Technical Sales Chemist, you will play a crucial role in efficiently receiving and processing customer enquiries, producing technical sales quotations, and converting them into completed sales.

Key Responsibilities
  • Answer incoming customer calls and emails promptly and professionally.
  • Work with customers to achieve first call/contact resolution where possible.
  • Organize the collection of samples, identify relevant assessment criteria, and advise internal/external laboratories to produce and/or interpret resultant data.
  • Ensure that Hazpack chemist job information is uploaded to the system in a timely manner.
  • Obtain all required technical information to produce technical sales quotes and supply them to customers within technical SLAs.
  • Follow up technical sales quotes with customers to close out sales and achieve conversion rates in line with technical SLAs.
  • Manage the processing and rectification of Haz Waste operational Non-Conformances, ensuring responsibilities for actions are apportioned, learning opportunities are secured, and actions are tracked.
  • Identify and work with depots and suppliers to source best value options for customers' hazardous waste.
  • Upload enquiry lines and pass to Technical Assessors to complete waste assessments when a quote is accepted by the customer.
Requirements
  • A Level Chemistry (or similar) and Science Degree (Chemistry or similar).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Effective time management skills and ability to work effectively unsupervised.
  • Ability to deal with conflict and negotiate/manage the appropriate outcome.
  • Organized with the ability to simplify complex issues.
  • Analytical; data-driven decision making.
