About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Practitioner to join our team at HMP Oakwood. As a key member of our Integrated Mental Health and Substance Misuse Service, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to individuals within the prison.

Main Responsibilities

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of evidenced-based interventions
  • Managing a caseload and practicing within the framework of the multi-disciplinary team and Care Programme Approach
  • Providing a care coordinator role and communicating effectively with other professionals to ensure comprehensive care support
  • Working with individuals from initial assessment through to discharge, including transferring care to other providers as necessary

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A professional qualification (degree and postgraduate or equivalent) and/or relevant experience in a comparative setting
  • Evidence of continued development and an up-to-date skills base
  • Sound knowledge of blood-borne viruses and harm reduction approaches
  • Experience of working with drug and alcohol users and within a prison environment
  • Evidence and understanding of evidenced-based therapies and interventions for the treatment of drug and alcohol use
