Principal Ecologist Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Ecologist to lead and manage ecological projects, providing expert guidance on environmental assessments and biodiversity strategies. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on high-profile projects across diverse sectors, mentoring junior ecologists and fostering strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Management: Oversee ecological assessments, habitat surveys, and impact studies for various projects, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and planning policies.
  2. Field Work: Conduct and oversee field surveys, including protected species surveys, habitat assessments, and ecological monitoring, to inform project decisions.
  3. Writing Reports: Prepare detailed ecological reports, impact assessments, and mitigation strategies, communicating complex information to clients and stakeholders.
  4. Client Liaison: Build and maintain relationships with clients, providing expert advice and guidance on ecological issues, and ensuring client satisfaction.
  5. Team Leadership: Mentor and support junior ecologists, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment, and promoting professional growth and development.
Requirements:
  1. Experience: Proven experience within an ecological consultancy or a related field, with a strong understanding of UK wildlife legislation and planning regulations.
  2. Qualifications: Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline, with a master's degree or PhD advantageous.
  3. Skills: Proficient in ecological survey techniques, data analysis, and report writing, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Ecology Knowledge: Strong understanding of ecological principles, conservation practices, and environmental management, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical context.
