Role Overview

The EDI Manager will play a pivotal role in strengthening, promoting, and championing inclusive and accessible communities across City University and the wider community. This appointment will ensure that people are at the centre, with their voices, expertise, and rights driving policy and design, delivery, and improvement of support and services.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will take strategic ownership for planning and delivery of key University EDI objectives. Responsibilities include establishing priorities and planning to ensure the EDI agenda is delivered and that the University complies with its statutory and non-statutory commitments.

The role holder will work closely with the Head of EDI on broader EDI-related projects and with members of the EDI Board and OIEI team. They will implement an aligned approach to all EDI relevant activity, ensuring that all EDI initiatives are delivered through an inclusive and accessible lens.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have experience of working in the EDI field and demonstrate experience and skills in the following areas:

  • An undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject and/or demonstrable experience in a comparable setting
  • Proven project and people management skills
  • Experience of Athena SWAN and/or other equality Charter Marks awards
  • An understanding of the importance of EDI and of equality legislation
  • Project management skills
  • Ability to work flexibly, independently, and co-operatively as part of a team
  • Ability to analyse, interpret, summarise, and report on complex statistical data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent IT skills
