About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical and Electrical Surveying Engineer to join our team at AA Projects Ltd. As a key member of our Mechanical and Electrical Services Asset Surveying Team, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality surveys and reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the successful completion of projects by providing technical services in accordance with project time and quality.
  • Maintain and enhance technical knowledge to ensure the production of high-quality surveys and reports.
  • Liaise with clients, professional organizations, contractors, suppliers, sub-contractors, and other surveying departments.
  • Work as part of a team to deliver surveys and reports.
  • Lead teams in survey commissions, coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Carry out site surveys to record, condition grade, and detail existing mechanical and electrical services assets.
  • Use specialist surveying software to record and document survey findings.
  • Prepare detailed reports on survey findings, including word descriptions of mechanical and electrical services assets and any defects.
  • Review existing mechanical and electrical services servicing and maintenance records to inform condition grading.
  • Undertake surveys at various types of buildings, including hospitals, healthcare facilities, schools, colleges, universities, hotels, and commercial premises.
  • Travel throughout the UK for survey commissions, with expenses covered.
  • Work independently on smaller surveys, using your initiative to complete tasks.
  • Report to the Associate Director of MEP Asset Surveying.
Type of Surveys
  • Full asset capture and lifecycle surveys to record, condition grade, and prioritize remedial works.
  • Planned preventative maintenance surveys to identify assets and maintenance budgets over a 5 or 10-year period.
  • Latent defect surveys to identify defects in buildings approaching the end of a construction contract.
  • Dilapidation surveys to assess the condition of assets at the end of a tenancy or lease term.
  • Environmental condition validation testing using calibrated instruments to verify performance against original specifications.
  • Accessible ceiling inspections to record the condition and grading of M&E assets and services above ceilings.
Requirements
  • City & Guilds or HNC/HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Proficient in the use of IT systems, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Senior Mechanical and Electrical Services surveying experience, delivering projects, coordinating teams, meeting deadlines, and attending client progress meetings.
  • Experience training and developing the careers of graduate and less experienced surveyors.
  • Good knowledge of British Standards, regulations, and mechanical and electrical services design and installation practices.
