Job Title: SEMH HLTA

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated SEMH HLTA with a passion for supporting secondary age students within an SEN provision.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide tailored support to secondary age students with SEMH needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum effectively.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to plan and deliver educational activities.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies to create a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Assist in monitoring and evaluating students progress, both academically and socially.
  • Facilitate small group sessions and one-to-one support to address individual needs.
  • Contribute to the preparation of teaching materials and resources.
  • Support the schools SEN policies and contribute to the development of students Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an HLTA, specifically within SEMH or SEN settings.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEMH needs.
  • Excellent behaviour management skills and strategies.
  • Ability to build rapport with secondary age students and adapt to their individual learning requirements.
  • A collaborative team player who can also work independently.
  • Relevant HLTA qualification or equivalent.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development in the field of SEN education.
