Paralegal/Information Governance Specialist

About the Role:
Birmingham City University is seeking a skilled Paralegal/Information Governance Officer to join its dynamic Legal Services team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for providing paralegal assistance, responding to external requests for advice, and maintaining governance records.
Main Responsibilities:
- Providing high-quality paralegal support to the Legal Services Team.
- Responding to external requests for advice and providing excellent customer service.
- Maintaining and monitoring systems to progress and chase information or requests.
- Supporting the development and maintenance of corporate information and governance records.
- Undertaking key aspects of the Legal Services Team administration, including case management systems and training records.
Key Requirements:
- Education to first degree level is desirable.
- A high level of literacy and numeracy.
- Excellent IT skills, including advanced knowledge of web-based solutions and Microsoft Office.
- Proficiency and experience of the Data Protection Act 1998 and/or the Freedom of Information Act 2000 is helpful.
- Experience of providing high-quality customer service in a complex environment.
- Experience of maintaining governance or other complex records accurately.
- Ability to communicate clearly and in appropriate language with third parties, students, and colleagues.
- Ability to understand and explain complex regulations to third parties, students, and colleagues.
