We are seeking a highly skilled Data Governance Specialist to join our team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will oversee the Information Governance team's daily operations, ensuring compliance with legislation, regulation, and guidance.

The role reports to and assists the Data Protection Officer in promoting data protection and security awareness within the Trust. The postholder will provide ad hoc advice and guidance, develop training plans, and contribute to Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA).

The ideal candidate will have specialist knowledge relating to Data Protection & Confidentiality, Information & Cyber Security, and Records Management. They will also have up-to-date knowledge of applicable legislation and relevant best practice related to Information Governance within the public and private sector.

About the Role

  • Lead the Information Governance team in ensuring compliance with legislation, regulation, and guidance.
  • Assist the Data Protection Officer in promoting data protection and security awareness within the Trust.
  • Develop and implement training plans to ensure staff are aware of data protection and security best practices.
  • Contribute to Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA) to ensure compliance with legislation.
