About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Safety Discipline Lead to join our team on a permanent basis, working on our major projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver core nuclear criticality modelling and assessment capability to support programmes and projects.
  • Act as a criticality expert, providing support to project and programme criticality leads as required.
  • Assist the Head of Profession in capability development, resource strategies, recruitment plans, and competence establishment.
  • Identify, implement, review, and monitor Amentum and programme-specific management and technical arrangements to support delivery.
  • Prepare and coordinate assessment and analysis delivery for projects, interfacing with engineering, project management, project controls, and document management functions.
  • Advise Amentum leadership, engineering, programme and project management, and clients on regulatory compliance, standards, and guidance.
  • Assist in safety case assurance through project, programme, and corporate requirements.
  • Define and develop interfaces between related functions, including engineering and projects, to ensure work is delivered.
  • Support clients in interactions with regulators and safety committees.
  • Support Amentum business development functions as required.
Requirements
  • Degree (or equivalent education) and proven experience in nuclear fire safety assessment, including nuclear safety assessment and conventional fire safety assessment and management.
  • Experience in applying codes and assessment in a wide range of operations and fault scenarios.
  • Experience in two or more UK Nuclear Site Licensee Organisations.
  • Knowledge of conventional fire safety assessment.
  • Experience in managing staff and contractors.
  • Knowledge of nuclear hazard identification and analytical tools.
  • Solid understanding of UK nuclear site licensing, safety assessment principles, regulatory guidance on safety assessment, and nuclear Site Licence Conditions.
  • Knowledge of regulatory permissioning/flexible permissioning.
  • Ability to gain and retain Security Clearance and willingness to obtain Developed Vetting.
  • Travel will be required, for up to several days at a time in the UK and occasional overseas travel.
  • Supervisory experience and good oral and written communication skills, including presentation and report writing.
Desirable
  • Experience in safety case in civil reactors and defence sector.
  • Previous working knowledge of UK nuclear new build.
  • Experience in international nuclear safety assessment, project management, and project controls.
  • Stakeholder management and ability to mentor and coach.
