Senior Clinical Fellow in Obstetrics & Gynaecology

This is an exciting opportunity to join the London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust as a Senior Clinical Fellow in Obstetrics & Gynaecology. The role involves teaching Imperial undergraduates in their year 5 obstetrics and gynaecology firms, providing a unique chance to develop your teaching skills and contribute to the education of the next generation of healthcare professionals.

The post offers the opportunity to obtain a higher qualification in Medical Education and to join a vibrant Undergraduate Faculty comprising 11 Teaching Fellows across various specialties while working in a busy obstetrics and gynaecology unit.

The job involves cross-site working at Northwick Park Hospital and Ealing Hospital, with the appointee being involved with the ST5-7 rota for obstetrics and gynaecology, covering on-call commitments at Northwick Park.

Main Duties of the Job

This job description is for a Senior Clinical Fellow in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at ST5-7 level with the opportunity to receive training in general obstetrics and gynaecology. Many opportunities are available for those wishing to pursue ATSMs.

The post holder will be an integral part of the general obstetrics and gynaecology team, with cross-site working at Ealing and Northwick Park Hospitals as part of the senior middle-grade rota.

Following the closure of the maternity unit at Ealing, the obstetric workload is based at Northwick Park, which consists mostly of high-risk patients with diverse medical conditions. Currently, there are 6000 bookings with an annual delivery rate of approximately 5000 deliveries at the Northwick Park site.

There are specialized clinics for diabetes, maternal medicine, haematological conditions, and multiple pregnancies. The labour ward has 98 hours of consultant presence and further on-call cover.

  • NHS experience within the last 3 years
  • Experience of teaching and training undergraduates, postgraduates, and junior medical staff
  • Completed audits
  • Evidence of ongoing interest and achievement in research
  • Organisational experience
Education & Qualifications
  • MRCOG Part 3
  • On GMC - registered Medical Practitioner
  • Another higher qualification (PhD, MD)
