Role Overview:

The post holder will provide clinical leadership and expertise in perinatal psychiatry, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care to inpatients on the ward. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Regular clinical reviews and assessments of inpatients.
  2. Supervision and support of Specialty Doctors.
  3. Preparation of reports and attendance at mental health review tribunals.
  4. Flexibility to accommodate urgent clinical reviews and assessments.
  5. Clinical input within the Care Programme Approach (CPA) framework.
  6. Approved Clinician status and Responsible Clinician duties for those subject to the Mental Health Act 1983.
  7. Complex prescribing and review.
  8. Effective liaison with local mental health providers, local authority professionals, and statutory organisations.
  9. Contribution to and participation in the multidisciplinary team, providing support and supervision as needed.
  10. Collaboration with other services within the Trust and other Trusts within the Integrated Care System (ICS).
  11. Professional leadership and guidance.
  12. One hour per week of protected clinical supervision for the Core Trainee/Foundation doctor.
  13. Clinical supervision for the SAS doctor.
  14. Joint working with the Clinical Leadership Structure, Operations Manager, and Head of Operations.
  15. Attendance at specialist perinatal community meetings.

The successful candidate will be a highly skilled and experienced perinatal psychiatrist, able to provide expert clinical leadership and support to the multidisciplinary team. They will be a strong communicator and team player, with a commitment to delivering high-quality care to inpatients on the ward.
