Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Imaging Technician to join our team at the University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust FT. As a member of NHS Professionals, you will have the opportunity to grow, develop, and excel in your career.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality clinical diagnostic imaging procedures with a high degree of reproducibility.
  • Accurately enter patient data into imaging platforms to ensure correct patient images.
  • Collaborate with specialist Ophthalmic Consultants, Optometrists, and Nursing staff to ensure accurate diagnosis and care pathways.
  • Perform imaging of patients' Retina, Optic Discs, and Corneas using various equipment, including Fundus cameras and software programs.
  • Test patients' visual fields and visual acuity for diagnosis and treatment.
  • Assess patients' ability to pass the DVLA requirement for Visual Fields and Visual Acuity.
  • Analyze, judge, and advise on imaging requests.
  • Manage own imaging workload, including allocation of tasks and prioritization of workload, to ensure effective and efficient delivery of the imaging service.
  • Review test results and communicate with doctors where urgent intervention is required.
  • Use image manipulation and graphics software to optimize image acquisition.
  • Monitor equipment levels and performance, reporting and ordering supplies, and liaising with manufacturers for service and repair.
