Job Overview

University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nurse to join our Haematology/Oncology team at the Amberley Unit. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our services.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of safe and effective nursing care and treatment for patients receiving Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy, medical and supportive treatments, or undergoing medical investigations on the Amberley Unit. This will involve working closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care and support to patients and their families.

Person Specification

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Nurse who possesses the following skills and qualifications:

  • Current NMC Registration
  • Experience post-registration in an acute clinical setting
  • SACT administration qualification
  • Current competency in administration of intravenous medication
  • Cannulation competency and venepuncture
  • Experience in haemato-oncology nursing
Desirable Criteria

  • Training in immediate life support (ILS)
  • Current competency in the administration of blood products
  • Experience in delivery pre-SACT patient information sessions
  • Experience in handling telephone triage
  • Demonstrates skill in handling bad news situations
