Director of Textile Design for European Markets

Ruggable Design Team Opportunity
We are seeking a talented and self-motivated Director of Textile Design for European Markets to join our growing international team. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for creating innovative and culturally relevant rug designs for our UK and European markets.
This is a unique opportunity to build up our design capability in the UK and Europe. You will be responsible for end-to-end delivery of European collections, from setting the creative direction to rolling up your sleeves to create the final textile designs.
This role can be based in either London or Birmingham with a hybrid schedule (office/remote). Our manufacturing facility is located in Birmingham, so this role will require frequent visits to generate and assess strike-offs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the VP of Design and design team to develop a robust portfolio of on-trend rug designs
- Work closely with our European leadership team to assess collaboration partners
- Create visually compelling mood boards to inspire potential partners
- Work closely with high-profile collaborators to build relationships, develop unique rug collections, and ensure timely delivery
- Create production-ready textile design files and assess strike-offs for color and design accuracy at the manufacturing plant
- Manage project timelines, prioritize tasks, identify potential risks, and communicate project updates effectively
- Provide strategic guidance and project management for both short-term and long-term design initiatives
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Textile Design or a related field
- 8-10 years of experience in textile design, with a focus on new product development and business launch
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and a strong understanding of printed textile manufacturing processes
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and overcome obstacles
