About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant at Polaris Education, you will be dedicated to mentoring and supporting one pupil or a small group of up to six pupils. You will work closely with the Classroom Teacher to ensure the pupil's needs are met and their progress is reported. Your role will also involve supervision of pupils during non-classroom time, including extra-curricular activities and school trips. You will be responsible for assisting with lesson planning and classroom preparation, setting work where appropriate, and marking. You will also build positive relationships with your pupil/s and drive interaction and positive learning outcomes.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have a strong basic education, ideally to A-level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, and sound IT skills. You will also have previous experience in a similar role, such as a Teaching Assistant, and some previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an educational setting. You will be experienced and confident enough to take additional responsibility in an area of school, such as Food Hygiene, Forest School, Lunchtimes, or School Yoga. You will also have experience of behaviour management and techniques, and be committed to professional development and willing to learn. You will also be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work.
