Gastroenterology Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Gastroenterology Consultant to join our team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care, contributing to the growth of our gastroenterology service, and pursuing a specialist interest in IBD, neurogastroenterology, small bowel disorders, hepatobiliary medicine, interventional endoscopy, or nutrition.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute to the growing workload in general gastroenterology, with the opportunity to pursue a specialist interest.
- Participate in general gastroenterology inpatient care, organized on a rotational basis.
- Deliver high-quality care in outpatient settings by providing general and specialist gastroenterology clinics each week.
- Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, departmental audit, and governance.
- Link with Consultant colleagues in other relevant site specialist teams within the CSU and across the Trust.
- Work with colleagues in the gastroenterology department to deliver acute on-call services for gastroenterology and hepatology inpatients, including acute gastrointestinal bleeding.
- Contribute to research, teaching, and new developments within the department.
- MBBS MBChB or equivalent qualification.
- MRCP or equivalent qualification.
- Relevant higher degree (desirable).
- Well-organized and skilled in good time management.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate ability to relate to and work within a team.
- High level of clinical experience and competence in gastroenterology in and outpatients.
- Evidence of continuous career progression consistent with personal circumstances.
- Experience of participation in regular clinical audit.
- Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.
