About Our Client

A leading global chemical manufacturer of differentiated and specialty chemicals serving a diverse range of consumers.

We are seeking an IT Systems Engineer to join a team in Cambridge. The role focuses on deploying, upgrading, and supporting IT systems within the manufacturing, quality, and engineering sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the full lifecycle management of global applications and related infrastructure, ensuring ongoing performance and optimization.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with systems, ensuring disaster recovery, high availability, fault tolerance, and planning/testing contingencies to maximize uptime.
  • Oversee global and local configurations of applications, networks, and servers, including reconfigurations, switch installations, and global network design.
  • Create and maintain documentation for new and existing systems, while planning for future improvements and expansions.
  • Work closely with third-party vendors and application support groups to implement updates, resolve issues, and ensure smooth operation.
  • Mentor and coach team members, fostering knowledge transfer and building application/system ownership within the global team.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in IT systems deployment, support, and lifecycle management with a focus on global, complex applications in a manufacturing environment.

Technical Skills

  • Networks, subnetting, and packet flow.
  • Servers, storage, backups, high availability, and fault tolerance.
  • Virtual desktop technologies (Azure, VMware, etc.).
