The Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant Role:

Job Description

As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing both academic and emotional support to students with SEMH needs.

You will work closely with teachers, specialists, and support staff to create a positive learning environment that encourages student growth and confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and group support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Create a safe and supportive learning environment that fosters positive behaviour.
  • Collaborate with teachers and specialists to tailor lessons to the needs of each student.
  • Support students in their personal, social, and emotional development.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Ideally a Degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field is preferred.
  • Passion for Special Education and a genuine interest in working with students who have SEMH needs.
  • Excellent Communication Skills, along with the ability to engage and motivate students with varying needs.
  • A positive attitude and a proactive and empathetic approach to supporting learning.
