Railway Infrastructure Planning Manager

Ardour Associates Ltd is seeking a seasoned Railway Infrastructure Planning Manager to lead planning and scheduling functions for complex rail infrastructure projects. This role ensures projects are effectively planned, monitored, and delivered on time and within budget, meeting the high standards required within the rail industry.

Job Description:
  • Develop and manage detailed project schedules for railway infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with industry standards and regulations.
  • Oversee the planning and scheduling of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems in rail environments, focusing on integration and compliance.
  • Apply planning techniques, including earned value management (EVM), to effectively monitor progress and performance.
  • Work collaboratively with clients, project teams, and stakeholders to provide strategic direction and resolve planning challenges.
  • Lead and mentor a team of planning professionals, fostering their development and ensuring successful project outcomes.
  • Promote safety, sustainability, and inclusive practices throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify and manage risks associated with MEP planning in railway projects, ensuring mitigation strategies are in place.
  • Support negotiations, contract development, and strategic planning for rail-specific business opportunities.
  • Champion carbon reduction and sustainability initiatives, aligning with the rail sector's commitment to greener infrastructure.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Extensive knowledge of planning and scheduling methodologies and tools used within the rail industry.
  • Proven experience in delivering large-scale rail or transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of rail-specific safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills tailored to the rail environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary teams in rail project delivery.
  • Familiarity with carbon reduction strategies and sustainability initiatives within the rail sector.
  • Ideally degree-educated in construction, engineering, or a rail-specific discipline.
  • Membership of professional bodies (e.g., APM, RICS, CIOB, ICE) is advantageous.
Estimated Salary: £80,000 - £110,000 per annum
