Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Gastrointestinal Surgery Consultant to join our dynamic team at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

About the Role

The postholder will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and expertise in gastrointestinal surgery, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional patient care.

You will have the opportunity to participate in educational activities, including training and mentoring junior doctors, and contribute to the development of clinical guidelines and protocols.

The trust offers a range of benefits, including access to the NHS Pension Scheme, 27 days annual leave rising to 33 days, and a Cycle to Work scheme.

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • A medical qualification registered with the GMC
  • A license to practise with the General Medical Council
  • Minimum 4 years' full-time postgraduate training or equivalent experience
  • Completion of a specialty training programme in General Surgery or equivalent
  • MRCS or equivalent postgraduate qualification in Surgery

The ideal candidate will have excellent clinical skills, a commitment to continuing professional development, and the ability to work effectively in a busy clinical environment.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this role is £85,000 - £115,000 per annum, depending on experience. The trust also offers a range of benefits, including access to the NHS Pension Scheme, 27 days annual leave rising to 33 days, and a Cycle to Work scheme.
