About the Role
Liberty Steel Group is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician to join our team in a rolling mill maintenance specialist role. As a key member of our engineering function, you will play a critical part in ensuring the smooth operation of our plant and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake routine planned maintenance schedules to ensure optimal plant performance and product quality.
- Respond to breakdowns and report on maintenance activities to ensure effective deployment of team resources.
- Develop and implement process improvements to enhance safety standards and efficiency.
- Work collaboratively with the team to achieve departmental objectives and targets.
- Ensure effective communication and reporting of maintenance activities to the team leader and other stakeholders.
Requirements
- Recognized Mechanical apprenticeship (HNC/ONC level or equivalent) and relevant industry experience.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical aspects of rolling mills and associated plant and equipment.
- Experience with hydraulic, welding, and pipefitting, as well as maintenance of handling equipment, pumps, and pipework systems.
- Previous experience with PPM and reporting of PPM activities and breakdowns.
- Good understanding and knowledge of Health Safety Legislation and experience with adhering to SWP's, risk assessments, procedures, and permit systems.
- Good level of problem-solving awareness with an ability to fault-find pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
