Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Access Service Advisor to join our Information Rights team at The National Archives. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, ensuring timely and accurate responses to customers and stakeholders.

The Access Service Advisor will work closely with the Access Service Team manager to oversee all access requests, including FOI requests concerning MOD records and providing access to information contained within archival records and corporate information.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work well under pressure and prioritize a heavy workload. They will also have experience with case management tracking systems and be able to demonstrate a commitment to providing a professional service to the public and/or other government departments.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Managing and coordinating FOI requests, including monitoring the tracking system and entering requests and customer correspondence
  • Assisting the Access Service Team in providing access to information contained within archival records and corporate information
  • Carrying out research and responding to requests for open information held in the collection
  • Providing copies and transcripts of records, as required

Requirements

  • SC-level Security Clearance or willingness to obtain SC clearance
  • Ability to regularly travel to our Kew site for a minimum of 60% of work time
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Experience with case management tracking systems
  • Commitment to providing a professional service to the public and/or other government departments
